Parts 1 & 2

Just eight hours after finishing yesterday’s run I was back out pounding the pavements. Today I was again splitting the run but, I wasn’t sure how it would work.

I ran to John’s house and felt strong. There was no pain in the hamstring although it was still tight. We then made our way – the long way  – to the Three Hills Sports Ground again but this time ran around the football pitches rather than the cricket boundary.

There is a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and on a clear morning in September it is a pleasure to be able to run there. After ten laps we went for our usual Thursday morning coffee which became a full English vegetarian breakfast and double coffee!

Before we stopped I had completed eight miles. After breakfast I then ran back to John’s and around another park in his area as I still felt really good. My pace was quick, my legs felt strong and I had a smile on my face. Five miles later I was back home and needed to get ready for work.

Part 3

With just six miles to go I left work and headed to Radnor Park. It was hot and sunny and I soon found my stride at eight minute miles.

After half a dozen laps I fancied a change of scene so did a couple more cricket pitch loops at Three Hills.

The junior section of Folkestone Road Runners were also running the same route and it was great to see children enjoying running. I wondered how many of them would stick with it. Hopefully many of them.

The last mile to home was tough so I reminded myself that every mile run was another £2 in the pot for Rainbow Centre.

I have now run the equivalent of Folkestone to Sheffield on the way to my destination - Fort William.
